Camp George Everest made an unplanned humble beginning in 2017 with a small tented camp with all temporary set up. – The camp was started by Mr Shoeb As wildlife tourism in India had not matured the camp saw it lows and highs. In 2016 it was slowly converted into a more permanent arrangement with permanent deluxe tents. In 2017 joined Shoeb a hotelier, an Outdoor Teacher, adventurist and a disaster Management Professional and here the Camp George Everest is born.Today Camp George Everest is run and administered by a team of committed people providing an incredible camping experience and has catered to over 1000 guests. The team includes Naturalists, nature guides, Swimmers, adventurists, trekkers, Pahari Chefs and the marketing Partner Trail Hikers handled by Mr Raman Sharma renowned Travel Professional based in Mussoorie.
Escape to the queen of hills , Mussoorie
Mussoorie is a hill station and a municipal board in the Dehradun District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is about 35 km from the state capital of Dehradun and 290 km north of the national capital of New Delhi. Tempted by the exceptional beauty of the hills of MUSSOORIE, Lt. Frederick Young of East India Company had decided to build a hunting lodge on the Camel’s Back Road along with F.J. Shore, the Magistrate of Doon in 1823. Frederick also formulated the first Gurkha Regiment at Mussoorie and did potato farming, for the first time in the valley. In 1832, Mussoorie became the ground of the Great Trigonometric Survey of India, which began at the southern tip of India. George Everest, then Surveyor-General of India, after which the Mount Everest has been named wanted to establish the new office of Survey of India at Mussoorie. But his wish was declined and it was set up in Dehradun. During the chaos of 1959 Tibetan Rebellion, the Central Tibetan Administration of the 14th Dalai Lama was first established in Mussoorie, whose present location is in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. In 1960, the first Tibetan School was established in Mussoorie and the Happy Valley became the home of many Tibetans. George Everest House
Sir George Everest’s House and Laboratory, also known as the ParkEstate, is situated about 6 kilometres (4 mi) from Gandhi Chowk / Library Bazaar, (West end of the Mall Road, in Mussoorie). Built in 1832 it was the home and laboratory of Sir George Everest. He served as the Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843 and was responsible for establishing the first accurately measured height of the Himalayas, including the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. The house is situated in a place from where one can experience the panoramic view of Doon Valley on one side and a panoramic view of the Aglar River valley and the snowbound Himalayan ranges on the other.George Everest, then Surveyor-General of India, after which the Mount Everest has been named wanted to establish the new office of Survey of India at Mussoorie.
